Welcome to the Virtual Home of Gamma Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Greetings,

Welcome to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Gamma Upsilon Omega Chapter website which highlights our continued commitment to “Launching New Dimensions of Service 2014-2018”. Our website chronicles our dedication and service to the Hampton, Virginia community and the surrounding areas for over seventy years.

We are proud of our rich heritage as the first African American sorority established over a century ago on the campus of Howard University, in Washington, D.C. Our chapter was established and chartered in 1944 in Hampton, Virginia by sixteen dynamic women who had the same vision and fortitude as our founders in 1908. Since 1944, Gamma Upsilon Omega has been committed to perpetuating the national goals of our organization and continues to be visible in the community and dedicated to making a difference in our society.

Gamma Upsilon Omega is excited about continuing the journey and accepting the great mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in “Launching New Dimensions of Service” led by our International President Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson. We continue to collaborate with the community, partners, and various organizations as we address our international program initiatives which include: 1) Educational Enrichment; 2) Health Promotion; 3) Family Strengthening; 4) Environmental Ownership; and 5)Global Impact

I invite you to visit our website to find out more about our history, membership, and exemplar programs of service.

In Service,

Eleanor H. Blowe, President                                                                                   Gamma Upsilon Omega Chapter                                                                               Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
